Explanation of Solution

Neurons are the cells that are responsible for the transfer of the sensory information from one place to another. They gather information, helps in interpretation and react to it.

The neurons have specialized structures called dendrites, which is involved in the reception of the message from preceding structure and transmit it further to the cell body.

Neurons have a cell body, which has all the organelles such a mitochondria and nucleus.

An axon is a long tube-like structure, which is connected to the cell body and transmit the message to other neurons.

A reflex arc is a nerve pathway that has a sensory neuron, an interneuron and a motor neuron. The reflex arc act in a condition when the body is exposed to harmful substance.

A nerve impulse can be also called action potential.

A threshold is a minimum stimulus required for a cell to be excited.

Node is a gap in the myelin sheath on the axon, it is site where the transmission of impulse takes place. The myelin sheath is a covering on axon that prevent the loss of sensory information.

Synapse is a gap present between two consecutive nerve cells. It is the gap present between axon of preceding neuron and dendrites of a neuron.

Neurotransmitter is a chemical substance that diffuses across a synapse and binds to a receptor on the dendrite of another neuron.
