Explanation of Solution
Birds do not have a diaphragm, so air moved in and out of the respiratory system by the change of pressure in the air sacs. The air sacs permit the flow of air only in one direction through the lungs. The air moving through bird lungs have a higher oxygen content. As compared to mammals, more oxygen is available to diffuse into the blood.
