A place where organisms live and get their food, shelter and their mate is called habitat or dwelling place. Habitat may be land or ground, water and air. Based on their dwelling place organisms may be terrestrial, aquatic and aerial.

The term terrestrial refers to anything related to land or the Earth surface. Land-based organisms are called terrestrial. Thus, an animal living on land is the terrestrial animal. Therefore, the organism which lives predominately on land is called a terrestrial organism. it may be an animal or plants.
