Question
Chapter 26, Problem 26.27QP
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation:
The metallic character changes across a period by using periodic trends in ionization energy and electronegativity has to be explained.
Concept introduction:
Metallic character of metals:
- The reactivity level of a metal is said to be metallic character.
- Metals can lose their electrons when it undergoes
chemical reaction , why because they have low ionization energy. - Within metal atoms there will be low attraction of electrons, so which denotes that metal has low electronegaivity.
- There will be periodic trends in metallic character when we move across the periodic table and move down the periodic table.
- Metallic character depends on losing of electrons of that particular metal.
