Chapter 24.7, Problem 2MC
Summary Introduction
To determine:
The role played by the senses in the maintenance of homeostasis.
Introduction:
The nervous system is a complex system of self-rule, and its main function is integration. A sensation is a raw input from the peripheral nervous system that reaches the central nervous system. The brain integrates all these sensory inputs, consults memories and forms perception.

What are the similarities in how receptive fields are represented by the nervous system?
What advantage does this give us with respect to senses?
Define sensation and perception. Do we have direct contact with our world, or is the world as we know it filtered through our senses? How does the way that we perceive the world influence our mental processes and behavior? Do you think that what we perceive is actually “out there,” or is it what our brain perceives? In other words, can we be mistaken about what we see?
What are some general similarities in how receptive fields are represented by the nervous system? What advantage does this give us with respect to those senses?
