The role played by rods and cones in the detection of light.

Introduction:

An organ that produces the sense of sight is the eye. It is composed of several different layers: the white, outermost layer called sclera that helps in protecting the inner structures of the eye. The sclera is modified into the cornea towards the front of the eye. The cornea is the transparent and curved window which bends incoming light rays. The internal layer to the sclera is the choroid.
