Concept explainers
To write:
Four name of adaptations that attract insects.
Introduction:
Flower is the most beautiful part of a plant. The colours, shapes, and sizes of flowers are determined by the genetic makeup of each species. Flowers can vary in structure and form from species to species. A flower has many organs. Some organs provide support and protection, whereas others can be involved directly in the reproduction process.
Explanation of Solution
The four main adaptations that attract insects are colourful petals, smell, nectar, and habitat. The colour of flowers can attract the animals. These flowers have strong scents or produce a sweet liquid known as nectar. The bright colour and sweet scents of peonies, roses, etc. attract insects. Pale yellow or white flowers are more visible at night and these flowers attract nocturnal animals. The fruity smell of some flowers attracts fruit-eating bats. A bird normally has a poor sense of smell, so it generally locates flower by sight.
Thus, the colour of flower, their scent, nectar and habitat can attract insects.
