Summary Introduction
A group of bacteria which derives energy from the sunlight for growth is called as phototrophic bacteria. Their carbon source is coming from organic carbon or carbon dioxide. Oxygenic and anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria are the two types of phototrophic bacteria. Sunlight is the source of energy for oxygenic phototrophic bacteria and it is aerobic. Anoxygenic phototrophic bacteria also use light as the energy source but it is anaerobic and Gram-negative.
