Epsilonproteobacteria are microaerophilic, gram-negative rods. It is the smallest class among the proteobacterial classes. They are motile organisms. They are most commonly found in the acidic gastric mucosa, sulfide-rich caves, and in hydrothermal vents. This class includes thermophilic, chemoorganotrophic, chemolithoautotrophic, and chemolithoheterotrophic species.
