Chapter 21, Problem 16RQ
Summary Introduction
To review:
The type of lymph nodes that can be felt by palpation.
Introduction:
The lymphatic system is associated with the function of the collection of lymph and its return back to the venous circulation. The lymphatic system also checks the presence of any foreign antigens in the lymph as its associated structures possess immunity cells. Lymph nodes are tiny structures of the lymphatic system that are located throughout the body.

It sometimes is difficult to distinguish the different lymphoid organs from one another in histological sections. How would you tell the thymus from a lymph node? (a) Only the thymus has a cortex and medulla; (b) lymphocytes are far less densely packed in the thymus than in the lymph node; (c) the thymus contains no blood vessels; (d) only the thymus has distinct lobules and thymic corpuscles.
Which lymphatic structure is impossible to palpate?
1. (a)Where would you expect to find most of the plasma cells in a lymph node?
(b)And What kinds of cells are in the cords of the Red Pulp?
