Given:

Charge on charged sphere, q=1.2×105C

Distance between the spheres, d=0.15m

Initially second sphere is neutral.

Formula Used:

From Coulomb’s law,

  F=Kq1q2d2

Where,

  F is electrostatic force

  K is coulomb’s constant

  q1 and q2 are charges and

  d is distance between the charges.

Calculation:

When the charged sphere will come in contact with neutral sphere, equal charge will be distributed on both sphere.

So, q1=q2=q2=1.2×1052=0.6×105C

As, K=9×109N.m2/C2

On putting the values, the force is

  F=9×109×(0.6×105)×(0.6×105)(0.15)2F=14.4N

Conclusion:

Therefore, the electrostatic force between the spheres is F=14.4N .
