Introduction:
Radioactive isotopes are variants of an element that have an excess of energy, making them unstable. Over time, the radioactive isotope will release the excess energy in the form of radiation (such as gamma radiation). Radioisotopes can exist naturally or can be created in a lab. In medicine, they are utilized in imaging tests and also in treatment. They are also known as radionuclides.
