A major source of the CO2 that causes ocean acidification is emissions from coal burning power plants. One way to reduce these emissions is to use nuclear power to produce electricity. The proponents of nuclear power contend that it is the only way that the U.S. can increase its energy production while reducing air pollution because nuclear power plants emit few airborne pollutants. What are some of the benefits of nuclear power? What are the possible costs and dangers? Should we increase our use of nuclear power to generate electricity? If a new power plant were to be built near your home, would you prefer it to be a coal-burning plant or a nuclear plant? Explain.

- Which one of the following statements is false? Group of answer choices Water plays the main role in the increase in the mean global temperature referred to as global warming. Water does not cause global warming because the atmospheric lifetime of water vapor is short. The amount of energy absorbed when water evaporates is large due to its strong intermolecular forces. Water absorbs the greatest percentage of infrared radiation being emitted by the earth. The energy when released water condenses heats the atmosphere and fuels storms.arrow_forwardHow does a carbon sink work?
