Answer to Problem 1A

The chemical properties of the atom depend on the numbers and settlement of the electrons of the atom which are present outside the nucleus of the atom. So, there is no effect of the nucleus on the chemical properties of the atom.

Explanation of Solution

In chemistry, generally deals with the electrons as compared to the nucleus. Those elements which have a greater number of electrons, there only outermost shell electrons are involved in the chemical reactions. So, finally it proves that the chemical property of the atom depends on the electrons, not the nucleus.

Conclusion

Chemical properties of the atoms are depended upon the electrons and their arrangement.
