Clostridium tetani is responsible to cause tetanus. It is rod-shaped gram positive soil bacterium. It can form endospores to protect itself in unfavourable conditions. As it is a soil bacterium, its spores can be found in the soil and also in the GI (gastrointestinal) tract of animals.
