Interpretation:
Compositions of urea and sucrose solutions when equilibrium is reached should be determined.
Concept introduction:
The two solutions in the same enclosure and water vaporize from one container and condense in to other container. Driving force for this phenomenon is vapor pressure of water above the solutions. The most diluted solution has a higher vapor pressure of water above it. So water vapor transfers from more diluted solution to concentrated solution. As water vaporizes from one solution, it becomes concentrated and the solution which water condenses becomes more diluted. This transfer of water vapor occurs until the mole fraction of water of both solutions becomes the same.
