Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

A mirror having a plane reflective surface can be defined as a plane mirror which produces a virtual and upright image.

A curved mirror that has reflecting surface inwards of the mirror is said to be a concave mirror. It is also called a converging mirror.

A curved mirror in which the reflecting surface is outwards towards the source of light is said to be convex mirror. It is also known as diverging mirror.

Examples of plane mirrors, concave mirrors and convex mirrors are as follows:

• Plane mirror: A very common example of the plane mirror is the looking glass. They are also used in solar cookers.
• Concave mirror: A concave mirror is used in headlights of an automobile. It is also used in torch lights.
• Convex mirror: A convex mirror is used in the rear side mirrors of vehicles. They are also used in telescopes.
