A small population of the earthworm is pouredin a glass that contains a gene (A) has no fitness effect in the population. Scientist studied the frequency of (A) gene for 20 worm generations. (A) gene contains two alleles that are (A) and (a). During the first generation, (A) allele is present in the population, by the fifth generation, an allele becamemore common than (A). By the twentieth generation, (A)allele became morecommon. The oscillation of allele frequencies of gene (A) occurred due to directional selection.
