Introduction

There are many predictors of what we find attractive in a potential mate. Among the most common are reciprocity, similarity, and propinquity (AKA proximity.) Reciprocity means that we tend to be attracted to those who are also attracted to us. Similarity is simply someone who is like ourselves, either physically, emotionally, or both. Propinquity refers to finding others whom we spend a great deal of time with more attractive.
