Chapter 10, Problem 25SAE
Summary Introduction
To review:
When an Rhesus-negative (Rh-) person receives blood from an Rhesus-positive (Rh+) person, the reason behind the person to have transfusion reaction in the second blood transfusion and not during the first transfusion reaction..
Introduction:
The Rh blood group contains the Rh antigen on the red blood cells (RBCs). It is named so because one of the eight Rh antigens (agglutinogen D) was originally identified in Rhesus monkeys. This antigen was originally discovered in Rhesus monkeys and later revealed in the humans. A person who is Rh+ contains Rh antigen, whereas the person who lacks the Rh antigen is known as Rh-.
