Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Sickle cell anemia is a type of genetic disorder where the red blood corpuscles (RBCs) become rigid and sickle-shaped or crescent shaped instead of normal round shape. Only the individual who carries two copies of the defective genes shows the symptoms of sickle-cell anemia. When the oxygen level decreases in the body, the abnormal hemoglobin of RBCs causes it to become sickle-shaped and rupture.
