Concept Introduction:

The ions, atoms or molecules in solids are held together in a rigid, three-dimensional array due to attractive forces. Based on this arrangement, solids can be classified into amorphous or crystalline substances. Most solids exist in the crystalline form. The properties of crystalline solids are influenced by the structures and type of forces present within them. Crystaline solids are further classified into Metallic, Ionic, Molecular, and Network solids.
