From my own experiences in hospital I have a lot of admiration for nurses. The nurses were always caring and gentle towards myself and other patients even when it is clear their work was demanding. Their passion for the job was clear to see and I want to be part of this dedicated profession.
In school biology has always been my favourite subject. The human body fascinates me and I have always been eager to learn more about how it functions. I feel this interest is one of the main driving forces for choosing nursing as a career. I’m looking forward to the challenge that university will offer. Another reason why I have chosen nursing as my topic of study is this year I am undertaking a college course in ‘care’. In the course I have looked

I believe both of these qualities are necessary for nurses as they need to work well with co-workers and also be able to take the lead when necessary. To improve my leadership I will be attending a course run by the Rotary Club. The weeklong Rotary Young Leadership Award (RYLA) will give myself and others the opportunity to be both a leader and a team player. I was selected out of the five girls interviewed to go to Abernethy for the course. Furthermore I will be gaining experience working independently as I will have to plan the travel on my own and find my own way to the meet up location. Additionally I am exploring the possibility of NHS based work experience (hopefully in place early 2016.)
The Duke of Edinburgh award has helped me improve my organisation and communication because we had to plan our own expedition and decide what to do for the physical, skills and volunteering aspects. Both of these skills are essential for nurses, they have to be very organised and skilled at communicating with patients and

I found the experience very rewarding and loved working with the other volunteers. Everyone pulled together as a team while sorting through all the donations and it made the whole experience fun and go by very quickly.
I have never been scared of hard work. I had my first job at 13 at my local grocery store and have been working ever since. I have done various jobs, I have been a cleaner, a waitress and a quality checker at a jewellery factory. Each job was different and I had to adapt to make sure I was working to the best of my ability, which I managed with ease. From these jobs I have gained social skills, organisation skills, creativity and responsibility.
I am very passionate about caring for and working with others in the future. I know that I will do well in this course because I am determined to become a nurse and expand my knowledge of the human

Arguably, nursing school has been one of my most significant challenges to date. In part, I have been successful because I appreciate the intensity the accelerated nursing program offers, and I pursue additional opportunities to immediately apply my knowledge. In addition to my courseload, I teach CPR to expectant families at Pennsylvania Hospital, work as a clinical researcher at HUP, and volunteer as an EMT for the Narberth Ambulance Company. Further, I seek feedback and advice from mentors and instructors during the program. Finally, my undergraduate career, and particularly some of my more demanding classes like organic chemistry, offered an opportunity to understand strategies that work – or don’t – in learning difficult material, and I apply this knowledge to meet the academic challenges of the program. I want to challenge myself moving forward, as I work towards becoming a leader in primary care.
I really enjoy Human Biology and English as these are my strongest subjects. I enjoy learning how each system in the body works and relates to one another in order to make the body run efficiently and I love being able to be write and create in English. I recently completed my Certificate IV in Preparation for Nursing Education through Central Regional TAFE as well as completing my year 12 school studies. This course has been really eye opening for me as it has taught me many valuable skills and has given me knowledge that I could implement into University studies and
Transitioning from nursing school to working in a hospital setting can be a challenging time for a new graduate. Due to the nursing shortage, new graduate nurses are being hired with little to no experience. This is overwhelming for new nurses, especially when they are not getting adequate support or training from the hospital. The amount of stress, pressure, and lack of training is leading to a high turnover rate for new graduate nurses. With patient acuity on the rise, new graduate nurses that are filling these vacancies in the hospitals, need to be competent nurses to provide proper and safe care to the patients.
As a child, I remember excitedly reciting the names of human body parts and voraciously reading books about the medical world. My favorite activity I can recall revolved around me using my play pretend doctor’s kit to give my younger brother “checkups” to diagnose and treat the imaginary ailments he came to me with. This activity captivated me as it allowed me to mimic my parents’ former occupations and feel more empowered as I could take charge and make the “crucial decisions” which would “save my patient’s life.” My parents recognized my interest in the medical field and helped to further deepen my passion in the field of medicine. They answered my questions about the human body, encouraged my research into potential careers in medicine,
For as long as I can remember I have always had an interest in the human body and how it functions. As a young girl, my mother noticed my interest in this and began to buy me human anatomy books. Since my mother worked in the medical field, she has inspired me and has encouraged me from the start. As I've gotten older, my love for the human anatomy has only grown. As a junior, I was able to take an anatomy and physiology class at Sanger High School. I was able to excel in that class with my prior knowledge and learned so much more. Along with anatomy, I took a Medical Terminology class. Both of these classes together greatly influenced me into choosing to major in Nursing. Taking the medical terminology class opened my eyes to see the many
When in the early stages of planning my life, I knew exactly what it was I inspired to do. I wanted to save lives. I did not know how I was going to complete that task at hand, but I knew that I was going to be saving someone’s life. So, starting nursing school was one of the jubilant moments of my life. I am ecstatic to be on my journey on becoming a well-rounded and educated nurse. Nursing is a profession that requires a great deal of care and knowledge of the human body and as a nurse I plan to be cultivated and discerning.
In the interview the question about any advice she wanted to offer was asked, with a big smile on her face, I am sure, she responded that the field is “wide open” ("Nursing Informatics as a Career," 2011) she continued on to say, if you are a self-starter it

Nursing is a noble profession that will help me expand my horizon by letting me focus outside of myself and my self-interest. By focusing outside of myself, I will get to be an advocate for people’s health and a humanitarian who will have a chance to see the other aspect of medical
My experiences have improved my prospective nursing capabilities as the continuous hands-on work has taught me to be resistant, how to read people and situations and also how to respond quickly and successfully in an emergency. I also have a strong sense of responsibility and this confirms that I am always organized, tidy and punctual in my timekeeping. I 'm cooperative and pleasant to others and have possessed sensitivity to all people. As an individual, I'm adaptable in all situations as a result of my caring history. My experience in life has led to an admiration for nurses as a result of the personal interactions I have had with the nurses who cared for me when I was seriously injured.
Having read about the profession on the NHS careers website, I fully understand that a successful nurse must show commitment, kindness and be able to deal with emotionally difficult situations from day one. Most importantly, a nurse must have the passion to care for others. I strongly believe I have these qualities to study at university.
I believe that nursing is both and art and a science consisting of psychosocial and biological sciences that work together to continually improve the health care field. I believe that with the knowledge and clinical experience from the TVCC ADN program I will be able to provide the best care possible to the people in the community. As a nurse it is important to carry the attributes of being caring, compassionate, understanding, non judgmental, realistic, open-minded, honest, ethical, and moral. I also feel that it is important to maintain sensitivity to all cultures when providing care.
Nurses may play different roles in the field, but their responsibilities are all very similar. Nurses must be confident in everything they do and be patient with people. They should have strong listening
