Final Reflection
The three courses I took this semester have all gave me insight to important information I have been able to apply at my work and will be able to continue applying in my future jobs. My business and professional writing class has shown me how correctly structuring work documents, letters, resumes, policies can demonstrate the professionalism of an employee or organization. Since this course when directing information through my supervisors I try to make sure my letters or any other documents are well written and formatted. I have received complements on my current job for doing this also. Effective interpersonal relations course has taught me several different tools I can use towards building better relationships with my co-workers and supervisors. I have made efforts of becoming a more effective listener in order to improve my communications skills. Previously I did not really like listening to some of the other co-workers I had but have had a more open mind and even taking criticism and in doing so I have built better relations with some of them. My personal leadership course made me realize that I have all the characteristics to become a great leader, it was just the fact of actually doing. Since then in my work I

The writing class allowed me to realize how important structuring and formatting can be especially for a supervisor and organization. The skills I learned from this class will always help me in making sure I properly go about writing documents, policies, resumes, letters, and other work related papers. My effective relations course has given me so many tools I can use when I am a leader in dealing with stress at the workplace, or building better communication with my employees, and solving conflicts between workers. My personal leadership course has taught me that as a leader I can never stop learning or growing with my

VeriType is developing software that will improve the billing process for physicians. The software is developed to help make the billing process easier, more accurate, efficient, and compliant with the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA). HCFA monitors billing practices compliance with government regulations. Fines imposed for noncompliance with HCFA guidelines can reach up to $10,000 per claim. This along with other inefficiencies in the billing process can cost physicians a lot of money. (Moot Corp, 2013)
I learn a lot of good ways how business perform in the real world and I my writing skills improve as well too. This class thought me that every business have to write reports and all kind emails. I learn how to use commas and proper punctuation. I am able to
were paying for a war that they were not actually involved with. This was the start of the separation and thought of true liberty and freedom from the economic control
Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person has to make in their life. It is so important because that is what we will have to do to support ourselves throughout life. My whole life I have always wanted to do something where people will remember me. Throughout this course, I have learned that I do not know what I want to do with my chosen major. I do not regret majoring in Criminal Justice because I’m positive I want to do something within the criminal justice system. I have learned that I’m open to different ideas and career paths. Through the course, I have learned that I’m a great multi-tasker, I’m always prepared ahead of time with my deadlines and I never had to give excuses as to why something is not done on time.
These last five weeks in EXP 105 has really helped me learn a lot about learning in general, and also it has helped me to understand myself as a learner. If I had to explain the concept of learning to someone who has not yet taken this class, I would tell them that it is simply knowing who you are as learner and knowing what are your intentions are when it comes to learning.
This past two week were most dedicated to the final project, but we also had a guest speaker from the biomedical engineering. We get feedback for our design decision matrix and for our second project report.
The third and final assignment that I think is honors level work is my end of the year research paper. For this assignment, every student in the class was given a piece of paper which had a list of topics that were dealing with different topics about Africa. The one that I choose was on conflict diamonds in Africa. The first reason I picked this is the process that I went through to create this paper. The first step to creating this paper is by starting my research. I started my research by researching the topic for the first three days, pulling any information for reliable sources. The next day, I organized the information that I had search into 5 subtopics. Then the next class we had I handed in my outline where I received feedback, After that week,we had 2 weeks to
In my final discussion, I have ascertained that I can accomplish several of things when I put my mind into doing it. Writing is a skill that I have enjoyed theses pass weeks. There were times I was honed making a perfect sentence. I began to practice and wrote then went back to proofread; make it easier to see my mistakes.
During this course of Managerial Economics, I first learned about the three-legged stool. Coming from a nursing background, when things are complicated, I would always break it down to basics of airway, breathing, and circulation, basic CPR. From a business perspective, I see now that I can evaluate things similarly with the stool. When matters appear out of balance, I can assess the three legs of performance evaluation, decision rights, and rewards, and then evaluate the situation with a little more clarity.
During this semester, I have learned a great deal about my own writing, and writing in general. One of the main takeaways from this course for me was how to break down the intricate process of writing papers. In addition, I developed viable skills regarding going into more in-depth detail during each step of the writing process. I enjoyed having the freedom to write about a topic that I was able to choose. This allowed me to research and write about something that actually interested me immensely. Having to work with one topic for the entire semester taught me how to find reliable resources and how to pick out the essential research from each article.
Coming into College Writing I was nervous because I wasn't really a writer. I thought I was okay but never the best. On the first day of class, we took a diagnostic test I thought I did horrible on it because I didn't expand on the topic. And that was my problem coming into the semester analyzing and expanding on a topic and my ideas. But thanks to Professor Patterson's help and the new things I learn in the semester I got better at analyzing and expanding. It comes easily to me now and I use it for all my courses. In my final portfolio you can see I made big revisions when I was talking about the story with my friend Adam. In the original draft I put how Adam was bullied but on the final portfolio, I analyzed on that story
Looking back on the course, GEB3213 – Advanced Communication in Business, I have learned and implemented how to work in a team scenario as well as improved my individual writing skills. I believe that my biggest lesson learned was writing my resume. My current resume was one that I have been using for quite a while so it was very mediocre. By improving my resume based off of what I learned in this class, it now sounds more professional and clear. My favorite assignment throughout this course was the Industry Profile Report. I want to specialize in long-term care, so to dig deeper into a company that specializes in the elderly or needy adults was very intriguing.
Although I am not a management major or a minor here at Bentley University, when picking classes, Interpersonal Relations seemed like a good use of an elective course. Originally going into the course I had some knowledge of emotional intelligence and effective business communication. Nonetheless, I knew my personal communication skills were on a less adequate level than they should be, and thought a course would help me understand myself and others better. Now that I have spent the semester learning and analyzing these skills, I feel I have accomplished my goals on learning more about interpersonal relations on a deeper level.
After going through this module and watching the videos, I learned that I judge a lot more than I thought I did. Since I have been out of my parent’s house, I have significantly changed my attitude toward society in that I give people a break. Like with the example of a person speeding—for about the last year, I do not get mad at people for flying past me on the interstate because I know what is it like to be that person and I have learned that it is not fair to be judged for being an “a**hole” when really, that person might be trying to get home to their sick kid.
