I am very interested in pursuing a dual degree with Wharton and concentrating in management (specializing in Innovation and Entrepreneurship) together with a college degree in fine arts. I also plan to pursue a master’s degree in either product design or fashion design after graduation. The main reason I am applying to transfer is that I believe that a business background from Wharton, combined with a creative base from fine arts would enable me to pursue my dream of starting up my own brand.
Growing up in a business-oriented family, I used to hear inspiring entrepreneurial stories from my parents who started up their own business 20 years together in my hometown, Shenzhen. Beginning from a young age, I have always been eager to create my
I’ve spent the last thirteen years of my life enrolled in the Chelsea Public School System, with six years in elementary, three in middle, and 4 in high school. A different range of emotions hits me as I realise it has finally come to be the time in my life where I must think about how I’m going to spend the rest of my life. I have grown and learned very much from my experiences here at CHHS, but I really do think it’s time to move on. I now must learn how to be independent and live on my own, pay taxes and learn how to cook something other than microwave pizza(eventually). Despite everything tiny little voice screaming in my head about the unforeseeable future, I intend to make the best of my time here on Earth by pursuing a Masters Degree
One of the major ideals of my life so far is cultivating hobbies that relate to multiple facets of art. Art is a broad subject and my interests lay with all subsets of art. An example is knitting. Although I have just learned how to do so during the summer, I plan to master the art and solely dress upon my creations. I am also an avid lover of knowledge and so I read erratically, both electronic and physical books and articles.
My interest in studying politics and social policy is grounded in my cross-cultural upbringing and a fascination with how power and conflict shape government decisions. At present, I seek a university course with a rigorous, multidisciplinary approach to these subjects that will prepare me for an eventual career in public service. For this reason, I would like to complete my undergraduate studies in the United Kingdom. As a Spanish national educated in the United States and now attending university in Italy, I have observed how power and politics interact in different cultures.
The future is a series of unexpected chapters in our lives filled with new innovations and discoveries. As a student, it is absolutely breathtaking to grow up with newly advanced technology. Although growing up with these facilities are fascinating, there is more to value and understand in the vast field of technology. As a pupil in school, I am passionately interested in the world of IT and wish to gain more knowledge throughout my life in this field of success. To begin with, I had developed a deep interest in technology for my father had taught me fragments of his work over the past few years.
Outside of my intended academic focus I am interested in learning about different people and their cultures. Growing up in the suburbs of the Twin-Cities, I often find myself being surrounded by people who are very culturally similar to me. Being that Los Angeles is a melting pot of cultures, ethnicities, cuisines, and traditions from all over the world, I know I would be exposed me different types of life and therefore I would expand my knowledge and understanding of other people. On campus I plan to surround myself with new people by joining clubs and service organizations such as Trojan Youth Soccer League, Marshall Women's Leadership Board, Greek life, and recreational sports among others. Outside of campus I plan to engage with the community
Goals come in all shapes and sizes because each and every person has different achievements they’d like to reach for. I am unique and have a set of aspirations from as simple as reading at least thirty minutes a day to as vast as changing the way the world sees people. The next twelve years of my life will be dedicated to my education and to my community. The way I perceive humanity is that everyone has something they need to talk about, but due to lack of self-esteem and confidence they choose not to speak. As a citizen in my community I feel that I have a voice and it’s a deep desire to help others.
I would love for the Admissions Committee to reconsider their decision because I feel that if I get accepted to Purdue University, I will be able to give back to the community/campus. My biggest goals for that would be able to join a fraternity and have connections of people in Purdue and commit myself to the fraternity. I would also love to be able to join groups or a club on or about helping one another. I am a person who loves to donate their time for people who need it most. Throughout my high school an some of my college year(s), I have gone to food pantries, food donations, and community work to help the homeless and hungry in downtown Indianapolis.
My technical skills combined with my experience with educating kids of all ages sets me apart from other candidates. Since I am self-taught and well-versed in many programming languages, I believe I have a deeper understanding of programming. Teaching yourself the languages requires you to understand the fundamentals really well; hence, I have the ability to breakdown the concepts when teaching in the camps. In addition, most candidates that apply I believe have an interest in computer science mainly; however, I have an interest and experience educating students. I have a passion for educating others and sharing the knowledge I have to help open up opportunities in the lives of the students.
After I graduate I am taking the summer off to have some quality time with my family before they help me haul myself up to upper peninsula Michigan. I am going to start college next spring at Lake Superior State University. The plan currently is to get a degree in computer engineering with an emphasis in robotics. While I do that I want to participate in local choirs and dance groups. Once graduated I want to embark on a career that will utilize all of my passions.
In the eyes of others, there are not many accomplishments I am recognized for. It is true that I have allowed many opportunities to pass y without serious consideration. Though I have allowed my unstable living conditions, responsibilities, and emotions hinder my development as a positive contributor in society, I have realized that the only way I can improve my life and meet to the needs of my loved ones is by being independent and successful. I want to focus on my education and on gaining practical career-based experience. My grades have not been extraordinary throughout my high school career because I let myself get distracted.
Over the past four years I have learned to love and respect English and Literature on a whole new level. I have had amazing teachers who taught my classes with so much passion for this subject that they make it easy for me to love it as well. We’ve read sad books, exciting books, and boring books that have all helped shape the form writing in the world forever. English, to me, is one of the most important subjects in school. We read every single day of our lives.
My interests in art, design, and technology have led me to a degree in Computer Science with a Digital Arts Concentration and a minor in Studio Art. I went through a few degree changes during my time at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), but after taking different courses and discussing my options with professors, I had steadily begun steering towards my goal of working in art, design, and technology. My involvement on campus with organizations, TealTV and SIGGRAPH (Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques), courses, and previous internships has not only given me valuable training but has further helped me identify a career where I can work in a blend of all three. Beginning my freshman year
Much of my life revolves around my education, and because of the education I have received, I can explore my interests in art and science. Although they are two very different subjects, I have found that creating art and exploring the world of science allows me to express myself. Most of my time is spent trying to balance schoolwork, tennis, and my other interest, reading and painting. Another important part of my life is community service; much of my time is spent giving back to my community. I personally have benefitted from the kindness of my community and I hope to return the favor by being an active member.
As a student, I’ve always had a passion for science. I’ve taken Honors Chemistry, Honors Biology, Physical Science, Physics, and even Psychology. Chemistry and Physics have been my favorites so far, so, consequently, my interest in Chemistry has led me to develop an interest in Pharmacy. I came across this program by having it recommended to me by a close friend. When I read the given information, I was immediately intrigued.
I am a first-generation, low income undergraduate from rural Iowa who aspires to a career in teaching and research in policy, international studies, and foreign relations; all of which coincide with the aim of this program. I know that research experience as an undergraduate is extremely important when it comes to preparing for graduate study; however, my home university is not a research institution and opportunities here are limited. A fellowship at the University of North Texas would present me the opportunity to engage in concentrated research and help me prepare for my doctoral studies. I am an Honors student and McNair scholar, double majoring in Political Science and Public Administration. As such, I have learned to take skills from different areas and apply them to unique issues.
