Over the past four years I have learned to love and respect English and Literature on a whole new level. I have had amazing teachers who taught my classes with so much passion for this subject that they make it easy for me to love it as well. We’ve read sad books, exciting books, and boring books that have all helped shape the form writing in the world forever.
English, to me, is one of the most important subjects in school. We read every single day of our lives. Words are important, and speaking them properly is too. Knowing how to speak in an appropriate way can get you jobs and a makes you seem even more intellectual as a person. Being able to understand words are important too. Understanding what people are saying can help in the workplace, at home, and your everyday life conversations with people you associate with. The teachers taught me everything I know for a purpose and the minor things came along with them.

At this age and with little college experience I am at a crossroads with what I plan to do for a career. I have thought about being a CRNA, or a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, or a Dental Hygienist. I plan on attending Wichita State University next year and complete my schooling there. If I do decide to become a CRNA, I will have to attend college for a total of six years. Which means I would have to transfer to Newman University in Wichita. So I could see myself there in five years, or I could see myself in a dental office cleaning people's teeth all day. Both jobs aren’t full time jobs, usually working about five days a week. Considering how much I love cheer, I could definitely see myself becoming a high school cheer coach or cheer coach of some type. I see myself as an energetic, smiling, hard working woman, kind of like how I am
My passion for computers stems from when I was first introduced to the operating system known as Windows Vista. At this time I knew the bare minimum of how technology worked and my curiosity took over. With my laptop I entered into the labyrinth of the tech world. I learned and practiced various branches of the tech world, my main focuses being networking, operating systems, and programing.
The position of honors is a much valued and highly respected position in which only a select few are chosen for its place. I myself believe that I am a suitable candidate for such a position given the type of person that I am as well as my personal experiences through business.
I am a southern bred leader, pursuer, and helper whos mission is to spread peace, love, unity, and respect among many to create a world of cheerfulness and brotherhood. I am Austin William Carricoand this is my story. All my life I have lived in the small town of Crestview and grew up among the wilderness along with its inhabitants. As the town grew exponentially into a vast city, my heart, my mind, and my soul grew with it, learning the ways to help others and slowly turning from a boy to the young man I am today. I now attend Collegiate High School continuing my journey at the ripe age of fifteen, still promoting peace as a mission for others even when I left my former school, Niceville High.
With both my academic achievements and range of extracurricular activities, I have found that I am eligible for a number of different scholarships. These could help me greatly in my goal to attend art school. There, I plan to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in design so that I can go into a career such as graphic design. Although there are a number of schools that I am interested in, including Kwantlen Polytechnic University, I aspire to one day go to Emily Carr University. Art is my life; I have a great love for creating it and this passion has sparked my desire to further my education in this field.
I am a first year undergraduate student hoping to pursue a career in biology, psychology and potentially chemistry. I want to network with those in the field of my interests to help gain valuable social capital in terms of becoming of joining a community, mentorship and possible research opportunities. I am interested in studying psychology and neuroscience since I believe they show great promise in benefiting society. Knowledge gained from studying cognitive processes can create solutions to patients with brain damage, addictions, and improving mental health for better quality living. Additionally, advancements from research in psychology goes beyond simply applications in the medical field, it helps in educating and understanding the underlying
The dreaded question leaves the mouth of yet another adult, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” the stranger asks me. The automated answer I've been using for two years falls out of my mouth, “I either want to go into the medical field or journalism.” I reply with a sweet smile meant to appear innocent. It's not exactly a lie; however, it seems I'm destined to be an undecided major for a while.
Being a Filipino, I grew up in a culture where education is of utmost important. When I entered high school in the Philippines, I was surprisingly surrounded by deep-pocketed students with remarkable talents and intelligence. Not like everybody else, I came from a middle-class broken family but that did not stop me from going to school. Later on, I became friends with some of the popular students in our school, and suddenly, made me part of the top of the food chain. I, then realized, am as good as them, but not better. Thus, I genuinely promised myself that I will do better in college.
As an aspiring computer science major, I plan on being a part of a highly competitive field, which employs talent from skilled individuals throughout the world. Due to the expansion and advancements in computer technology, it is crucial to improve security. The threat that has come from cyber offenses has dramatically increased within the past few years. Furthermore, these threats have become more challenging to defend against, and require rapid amendments to maintain a secure system. This is one of the principal challenges that are being faced this field.
A vision that is focused, and driven by the motivation to never quit and to always move forward is one of the great assets of all successful leaders, and that is what I strive to be. Over the last 7 months of attending this school, I have noticed certain aspects of the school life that can be developed to a greater depth to provide students with an exceptional Secondary School experience. Primarily, the main aspect of our school lives, that I would like to improve is the availability of sports competitions within the school community. The reason behind this is that I am very passionate about sports and would like to help provide more competitions which are easily accessible to students of all year levels.
Believing that college is a time intended for both academic and personal growth has led me to recognize that a well-rounded education is not restricted to the curriculum stated by one’s college or major. Throughout my college career I have taken advantage of countless opportunities which have provided me with both the knowledge and experiences that have helped transform me into a well-rounded student, ready to contribute to society. As I continue to grow as a student, I recognize the importance of taking advantage of opportunities that push me to test my limits and continue my efforts of becoming my best self. For these reasons, I am excited for the prospect of studying abroad in New Zealand.
Fluidly switching between languages has always fascinated me. My passion for language learning was incited when I fell in love with Spanish in high school. I attended a school that mainly consisted of Black and Latino students. I was surrounded by bilinguals, people who could communicate with two language groups. They had a skill that would benefit them for the rest of their lives absorbed from being surrounded by more than one culture.
I have a GPA of 18.5 on a 20.0 scale, which means I am a part of the honour roll, and it is unweighted. This is an opportunity for me to expose ideas that I have to help youth, which is something that I'm very interested in; develop potential leadership skills, amongst others; interact with teens and gain a better understanding of not only the realities of my country but of other countries also. It is also of interest to me because of my academic path, I am currently considering choosing International Relations as my college course
I personally decided to study here in the United States because I wanted to discover a new culture, new ways of learning, but most importantly, to study what I truly love and want to do in the future. Thus, I am about to do everything to pursue my goal and graduate; in fact, it is my motivation that keeps me going forward and helps me stay focused. I see myself as a student who gives her whole to achieve what’s on her mind, and who is determined to finish what has been started. Getting a scholarship would without a doubt enable me to reach this goal faster on one hand, and on the other hand, reach it cheaper. Indeed, I’d be able to take more classes per semester which can abbreviate my total years of college studies, yet earning as much knowledge.
For as long as I can remember, I have always strived for excellence. I enjoyed being independent, and rarely for help. I preferred to figure out things by myself, rather than to rely on others. Growing up in a sheltered household, my parents did not enforce strict rules and expectations; in fact, they did the opposite. Since my brother struggled in school, my parents were happy to see that I did not ask for the help.
Life: it’s different for all of us, each with our own paths. Every path has many twists and turns, but the one thing that makes each life different is their environment and how they are raised. These factors make each individual unique and who we are today. The environment that I lived in forced me to mature quickly, to focus on one thing at a time, and to set a plan for the future. I wasn’t raised by my parents.
