Vastly approaching my departure from high school, I know for sure that chemical engineering is the right major for me. I realized when I was younger that I loved math and science with a passion; not to mention it saved me from myself before I knew I needed saving. The struggles I have encountered have really been a blessing in disguise because they brought me into world of science and for that I am grateful. For that reason and many others I am determined to get my PHD in engineering no matter how hard it can get for me at times. Georgia State would be the perfect place for me. I need teachers that can challenge me so that when I graduate I can be as informed and educated in my field of study as possible so I can be prepared to fight for a
Seconds gave birth to minutes and minutes to hours, yet my concentration remained resolute. Despite the daunting nature of the task, I remained determined in what I had to achieve. For the first time applying some rudimentary scientific ideas I managed to build an intricate model of a toy car. “You shall grow up to become an Engineer one day,” my father exclaimed gazing at my laudable piece of creativity. I was only eleven and yet those prophetic words unknowingly chartered my future course for me.
The position of honors is a much valued and highly respected position in which only a select few are chosen for its place. I myself believe that I am a suitable candidate for such a position given the type of person that I am as well as my personal experiences through business.
I am a southern bred leader, pursuer, and helper whos mission is to spread peace, love, unity, and respect among many to create a world of cheerfulness and brotherhood. I am Austin William Carricoand this is my story. All my life I have lived in the small town of Crestview and grew up among the wilderness along with its inhabitants. As the town grew exponentially into a vast city, my heart, my mind, and my soul grew with it, learning the ways to help others and slowly turning from a boy to the young man I am today. I now attend Collegiate High School continuing my journey at the ripe age of fifteen, still promoting peace as a mission for others even when I left my former school, Niceville High.
Goals come in all shapes and sizes because each and every person has different achievements they’d like to reach for. I am unique and have a set of aspirations from as simple as reading at least thirty minutes a day to as vast as changing the way the world sees people. The next twelve years of my life will be dedicated to my education and to my community. The way I perceive humanity is that everyone has something they need to talk about, but due to lack of self-esteem and confidence they choose not to speak. As a citizen in my community I feel that I have a voice and it’s a deep desire to help others.
I’d be willing to attend TexPrep once again to learn. I’d like to use computers in the near future as my job. I’m going to study graphic designing or learn how to code programs. I would also like to learn subjects such as geometry, algebra, and english. All of these subjects can primarily help me throughout high school years.
After I graduate I am taking the summer off to have some quality time with my family before they help me haul myself up to upper peninsula Michigan. I am going to start college next spring at Lake Superior State University. The plan currently is to get a degree in computer engineering with an emphasis in robotics. While I do that I want to participate in local choirs and dance groups. Once graduated I want to embark on a career that will utilize all of my passions.
Include specific information about your research experience, what inspired you to pursue graduate studies, why you are interested in our program, and what your research goals are. The Department of Microbiology welcomes students with varied cultural experiences and educationally or economically disadvantaged background. If you wish to have these factors included in the review of your application, please provide information concerning your personal history, family background, and influences on your intellectual development. Several floors beneath the biological sciences building at the University of Edinburgh was my first in-person exposure to the expansive diversity of microbes; our professor had taken some interested volunteers to visit a sterile room housing a high pressure fermentor used for piezophile cultivation. Witnessing all of the probes and feed lines connected to the stainless steel bioreactor and learning about my professor’s proteomics experiments captured my interest and opened up my imagination to the endless possibilities that exist in the microbial world.
In the eyes of others, there are not many accomplishments I am recognized for. It is true that I have allowed many opportunities to pass y without serious consideration. Though I have allowed my unstable living conditions, responsibilities, and emotions hinder my development as a positive contributor in society, I have realized that the only way I can improve my life and meet to the needs of my loved ones is by being independent and successful. I want to focus on my education and on gaining practical career-based experience. My grades have not been extraordinary throughout my high school career because I let myself get distracted.
I aspire to improve the education system in impoverished and marginalized communities. Aside from my willingness to complete my Bachelor’s Degree, there are significant factors for my interest in transferring; one of them is the pursuit of knowledge. Continuing my studies at a four-year university will provide me the foundation and required tools to be shaped into the United States Ambassador and human rights advocate I seek to become. While I was born in California, at the age of seven, I had to move to Mexico with my family. The coming years arrived with challenges as I realized that I was not in California anymore.
The College of Literature, Science and the Arts attracts me for a variety of reasons. One of the most compelling reasons I would enroll in this college would be the strong initiatives that the college has taken in efforts to expand diversity, equity and inclusion. These are all qualities in which I thoroughly believe. Specifically the college has spoken upon the issue of diversity bringing up ideas that one may not necessarily believe or agree with. This to me is very important because dialogue is something that is necessary for our society to improve from the spot in which we find ourselves in now.
I believe in myself, as a student, that I have the qualities to be granted admissions into this school! My academic career is supported by the life experiences and accomplishments that I have collected outside of school. I’ve come a long way, especially after my arrival in the United States seven years ago. My life has been through drastic change and so far I have been successful in the steps taken towards my career.
As a first-world young person, I am unarguably very well-off, and my education alone proves it. Incidentally, while some students despise school, I on the other hand, love it. My love for school has deep roots dating back to twelve and one half years ago. In addition, the teachers who’ve taught me over the years have had a hand in the development of my character and aspirations. Throughout my time at school my teachers have been patient, and have keenly encouraged me to strive for success.
One of the most important days of my life happened in May 2017. This was the day that I graduated from college. This day was and is amazing to me because I am the first person in my immediate family to go to college and actually finish. The joy on my family’s face when I walked across that stage, made my heart glad. When I completed high school I took the, what I would call, easy route and went to Cosmetology school.
If someone asked me where I am going to be in ten years, this would be my answer. I will have a great, high-paying job, and beautiful wife and family, and a nice sports car parked in front of my lovely house. When I look into the future, I see myself being successful and happy. Even though I always pictured myself this way, I never worried too much about how I would get there. I feel the Suffolk University can lay the groundwork for making these dreams into reality.
I would like to thank you and the admissions committee for offering me the admittance to the alternate major of Biochemistry within the College of the Pacific for Fall 2018 and a merit scholarship of $20,000 per year. My desire to attend this dream school grew stronger after my visit to the University of the Pacific last April as I saw the beautiful and tranquil campus for the first time, meeting with friendly staff and motivated students. The clear yet challenging path to my dream program stays within reach. During the first semester of senior year, I was able to maintain strong grades while balancing among school work, a part-time job, and community service. With several Honors and AP courses, I raised my GPA and hopes with straight A’s.
