Introduction:
In my career research report, I am going to be trying to accomplish some of my goals. I feel like it’s time to start planning for my future and what I want to do with it, so a main goal is to find a suitable career for me. I have already seen some amazing career opportunities for me to think about. Though I really hope I can get at least an A on my research paper and make sure I enjoy the whole process of doing this project.
Survey Results:
For this research project I had to take two surveys. They were important because the told me things that I knew about myself and also some things I didn’t know, so it helped put me in the right direction to find out my career. The results I got back from the career cluster survey online

Almost all physicians complete at least 4 years in an undergraduate school, then 4 years of medical school, and 3-8 years in an internship and residency programs. The only thing that gives me doubts about going into a career in medicine is the amount of time you’re in school, because then once you get out school I’ll will have to go into either an internship or a residency program for a good amount of years before I will be able just to go out and find the job I’m looking …show more content…
Out of all the choices I got I’m sure those aren’t the only ones, but I feel like the best college for me would be Wingate University. The reason I chose this is because it was the highest graduation rates at 43% in four years and that really was amazing compared to the other graduation rates at the colleges recommended to me. Though I don’t know if I would choose to go to a college in North Carolina, if I got a chance to go to a better college out of state I would probably chose to do that instead.
The type of classes I will be taking are Pre-Medicine/Pre-Medical studies and then take medicine. Before I can go to college the is the part about money and college funds, and I don’t have a college fund my mom had thought about it but my mom just decided not to set one up. I had never thought to ask my parents about that because I never have thought to ask, which is kinda cool because this project has allowed me to learn some new things that are important for the future. I will go more in depth with talking about college with my parents at a later date when it’s a bit closer to me leaving to go to
After taking the FOCUS 2 quizzes and completing the worksheet, I learned about a few of my career options. I have already chosen a degree plan, and know what direction I want to go in, but I am not sure of the specifics. The FOCUS 2 Career Exploration Worksheet helped me to discover some of those specifics.
For this research report I was asked to complete two surveys. These surveys were important because they helped me understand what type of career I would enjoy based on my interests and my personality. The first survey I took was the Career
The career I chose to undertake as my profession is that of a mechanical engineer. Why do I want to become a mechanical engineer? Well, for starters, I would be able to design, build and possibly repair many various machines and other technologies that are complex. These technologies can range from being already in use on a global scale to new, futuristic designs that are highly technical. Also, this career includes being a sort of jack-of-all-trades, where I would possess knowledge in mathematics, physics, etc. Finally, this career offers me the chance to expand outside my immediate area since mechanical engineers are well desired around the globe as well.
Over the past week my class and I have completed surveys that are supposed to tell us what careers, we are best fitted for based on our qualities and our flaws. The first survey we did was on paper and was called Career Cluster Interest Survey, there were 16 boxes and in each
Based on my survey results I have learned that I want to have a career where I work with technology. The survey was important because it pointed out the direction that I am headed in. It also tells me that some of my strengths are working with technology involving math and science. It also points out to me some of my weaknesses that I need to work on like interpreting, reading, and following directions and figuring out what the directions are asking for. The top career that the survey picked for me was Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. In this career, I would be planning and managing scientific research. The second career choice that the survey picked for me was Information Technology. In this career, I would be designing and developing softwares and hardware. I agree with the results of the survey because even though I have several strengths I still have things I could get better at. I also agree with the survey because the top careers that the survey picked for me were the career clusters that I thought I would get in the beginning.
My results were social work, criminal justice, sports, kinesiology, health science, recreation administration, early childhood education.
The college career survey is a tool used to unlock a student’s potential for possible career and college majors based on their interest and abilities. My survey revealed a career in fields such as law, medicine, and media. Suggested careers in these fields were, Administrative Law Judge, Audiologist, and Newscaster, respectively. While, I am currently going to school with the goal of becoming a Medical Doctor, I can see how certain qualities in each career field/suggested careers would play a part in my current goal.
“But whether small or great, and no matter what the stage or grade of life, the call rings up the curtain, always, on a mystery of transfiguration—a rite, or moment, of spiritual passage, which, when complete, amounts to a dying and a birth” ( Campbell 42). When I was young, I had a lot of dream careers or jobs. Every time I watch a movie I always get inspired on doing whatever the career of the main character is. For example, after I watch a war or an action movie like the Lone Survivor or a James Bond movie, I immediately want to aspire on becoming a military soldier or a spy. It takes time and maturity to fully realize what I wanted to become. But since the beginning I know for sure that becoming a writer or any career that relates to writing is not my call to adventure. I hate writing a lot because I sucked on it. I just
To begin, my first goal going into college is to major in Pre-Medicine. This entails a combination of chemistry, biology, physics, anatomy, and statistics. A major in Pre-Medicine will require me to focus on my studies. I have a passion for Pre-Medicine because I would like to help people.
Throughout my life, I always wondered what my profession would be when I grew up. My first choice was to be a nurse because I love to help people and make sure that they are well taken care of. When I reached high school, my thoughts about nursing tapered off because other careers interested me even more, such as becoming a lawyer. As I began researching more and more about lawyers, I talked to my work based learning teacher at school, and she recommended a part time job at a law firm. I began calling around, and entering my senior year of high school, I received my first job at a law firm. The first days of working at the law firm, I was extremely excited because I thought that I would be one step closer to reaching my goals as an attorney. I had the privilege of seeing what the attorneys did throughout the day, however as my experience in the firm progressed, my interest in becoming an attorney dwindled. I then realized I was back to square one and was extremely discouraged, because I did not know what I wanted to do with my life.
The career I chose for this report is a gaming Youtuber. The reason i chose this particular job is because I like to watch lots of gaming youtubers and, it pays really well. Some examples are, Jacksepticeye, markiplier, and slogoman. All of these people are in the top twenty in the youtube subscriber count and the person on youtube with the most subscribers is a gamer named pewdiepie. The thing that I like best about the job is that (1) you get to stay home all day,(2) it takes very little money to get a Youtube channel started, and (3) you get to play video games for a living.
Coupled with traditional beliefs in Pakistani society and my mother’s early marriage, she never had a multitude of opportunities available to her. In society when my parents were growing up education for girls was more of a formality so that the literacy rate would increase. There were no expectations for girls to further their education even if they wanted to and therefore there was not a lot of support of girls who wanted to continue into careers. She also married very early in her twenties and had children very soon after which ate up her time. So, my mother received her Pakistani equivalent of a high school diploma, but not anything more. Even though she did not receive a post-secondary education, alongside minimal
I was raised by my wonderful mother, and God family in Burton, Michigan along with my older brother and sister. My career goal of becoming a physical therapist stemmed from a growth defect I experienced during middle school that my primary doctors simply ignored. It was not until I went to a physical therapist that I was given a chance to get the medical care I needed that led to a corrective surgery. Once I was healed, I continued playing sports as my family instilled a love for athletics that will never go away. A drive that pushed me through my 14 year soccer career that was a large factor in who I am today. These experiences gave me a form of discipline that has carried into my college career which began at Adrian College, but an injury I suffered during my senior year in high school ended my time on the field, and my inability to play soccer at Adrian College.
The use of personality, interest, and values assessments are very crucial in overall career decisions. One should never choose a career unless they know it fits their personality, needs, and level of happiness. As Confucius once said, “Choose a job that you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”. If we don’t choose a job that we like and enjoy doing, we may last a few weeks, months, or even years, but after a while we will feel like we are at a dead end job, doing the same thing every day, which may lead to not only stress on yourself, but also your family.
My career interest is to become a successful cardiothoracic surgeon. In order to achieve this objective, I must have not only have the appropriate work ethic, but also develop interpersonal skills & have a good academic standing.
