Otsego 2000 is a local environmental nonprofit. The organization strives to protect and preserve the regions beauty and history. Their mission statement is “a not-for-profit organization founded in 1981 to protect the environmental, agricultural, scenic, cultural and historic resources of the Otsego Lake region and northern Otsego County”. The organization has three major fundraising events. The first is Grilled Cheese for a Good Cause and is held over Martin Luther King weekend every January. The next is Local Foods/Local Spirits, which is held annually in August. Finally, they host a winter film festival called Glimmerglass Film Days in early November each year.
On March 27, 2015 Otsego 2000 held their bi-monthly Board of Trustees meeting. The meeting promptly began at 6pm, and was officially called to order by the Board president, Nicole Dillingham. The Board President as well as Ellen Pope, the Otsego 2000 Director jointly ran the meeting. It appeared they had similar goals and worked well together. As expected the first order of business was to approve the minutes from the last meeting. The motion was made, seconded and all were in favor. A Board member, not the treasurer, took the notes.
An agenda was provided at the beginning of the meeting. There were seven items on the agenda. They were the Call to Order, Approval of Meeting Minutes from February 6th, 2015, the Treasurer’s Report, Fundraising Report, Program Updates, Environmental Stewardship Updates, any New

The meeting agenda included the topics that were going to be discussed which made the meeting more structured. To start off the meeting, they called the meeting, announced the time and date, took roll call, and then everyone stood up and said the pledge of allegiance. There was a Personal Appearance from Jim Haddock and he first had to state his full name and address. He thanked the city council board for the bills, as he
The meeting was called to order promptly at 7 PM by Board President Steve Ehrlich. There were
I enjoyed reading Chapter 11 especially what the author writes on page 281 as it summarizes the importance of a message. It keys on the relevance of accessibility, accountability, education, interaction, and empowerment. I think that is the key element of fundraising. I also believe that from a theory to reality there are some gaps. Nonprofits are often under tremendous pressure to perform with very little resources. Some nonprofits can navigate the process successfully and grow, while others do not.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Supervisor Staaf made a motion to approve the Agenda, seconded by Supervisor Blettner. Motion carried.
The meeting I attended did offer an agenda but did not name a chairperson. When the call to order was issued, there was
Next, some comments were made about the townhouse roofs but no action was taken. Recollection is that the agenda topic "Ongoing Assessment ' was not addressed or reported. Finally, a presentation of a 'proposed budget ', approval of which cannot be documented in posted Council meeting minutes, was offered and
A meeting agenda ensures that the meeting will be a productive use of everyone's time. It can focus the attendee’s efforts and provide a structure to accomplish the meeting purpose. It defines outcomes, and important information, attendee roles and responsibilities and a meeting timeline. It allows attendee’s to prepare for the meeting as it is made available a week before. It also works as a checklist of those attending, goals and topics for discussion to make sure that all the necessary information is covered and keeps team members focused on the specific goals and stay on track with the subject matter.
Have you ever stopped to consider what a privilege it is to have a clean environment that we depend on for many of our aspects of life, such as sports, food, and the remainder of what we need to survive and thrive? Unless from off-earth, which would be things that we get from space matter (which is a miniscule amount), everything we have is thanks to our earthly resources. However, there is a huge price to the benefits. Someone has to take care of the negative effects that impact the environment, and unfortunately they aren’t fully accredited to what they have to do to maintain order in many people’s lives and ensure the environment is providing for their profession. When we think of environmentally-dependent professions more locally, many of the people of North Carolina depend on our environment to sustain their livelihood, and even to make a living for themselves, like fishermen, farmer, hunters, and all kinds of employment options. That is why Environmental non-profits in North Carolina should receive more funding annually from the government, for all the things they do to make sure our resources aren’t degraded, people can continue to use our environment for their enjoyment and any other needs.
I was surprised by the number of people in attendance at the meeting other than the board members. The board attorney, chief operations officer, chief academic officer, finance
Following the portion of the meeting where the public could bring things to the table, the Council continued with its agenda. Multiple departments came and gave reports on what they were doing and their progress. Including
It would be greatly appreciated if you could have these things gathered before the meeting on May 24, 2012. Thank you for your time and efforts to make this meeting happen.
A detailed agenda of today’s meeting along with informational documents were distributed to the Committee by email.
Even though there have been greatly public concerns about environmental issues since 1960s, practical action as the solution seems to be useless due to the limitation of state and pressure from the corporation. Moreover, the function of international organizations has also faced with difficulties in terms of enforcement and regulation; therefore, there has been wide gap between actors responding to the environmental issues. Environmental NGOs have adequately fulfilled this gap - owned multiple instruments to reach their goals, for example, conducting the environmental-concerned researches, lobbying in both domestic government and global governance and also TNCs, and more importantly raising public awareness and collective action from below (McCormick 2005: 92). Environmental NGOs, ‘agent of change’ works in all both levels; political sphere and civil society (Ford 2011:27). At political level, environmental NGOs act as a pressure group and lobbyist to government and TNCs. Another level is civil society in which environmental NGOs acts in domestic levels - within the nation boundaries, and also in global level, consequently there is part of possibility of global civil society in which people are not limited by nation boundary, but can share common value and perform collective action as a global citizen (McCormick 2005: 93). In doing so, environmental NGOs always politicize the issues by shaping global
One of the well known organizations that delve into the environmental conservation issue with a lot of enthusiasm is the World Wildlife Fund also known as the WWF. It stands to be one of the best known organizations that are involved in the protection of the endangered species as well as their natural habitats across the globe.
