Probably he did not have the courage to be honest and open with you. I have not being through that situation because in my past relationships, it ended up in a faded away disengagement strategy and I was not really into it due to my job. I new that those relationships were not going to work because I was working long hours and traveling a lot. Over time the communication was less and less until it was completely over. But once I meet my husband, it was different because it felt different and I just knew that the relationship was going to work.
