DEFINITION:Right (opposite left); hence, south (from the viewpoint of one facing east). Oldest form *des-, becoming *deks- in centum languages. Suffixed form *deks(i)-tero-. destrier, dexter, dexterity, dextro-; ambidextrous, from Latin dexter, right, on the right side. (In Pokorny 1. de- 189.) Compare ner-1.
