DEFINITION:To like, desire. Oldest form *ke2-, colored to *ka2-, contracted to *k-. 1. Suffixed form *k-ro-. a. (i) whore, from Old English hre; (ii) whoredom, from Old Norse compound hrdmr (-dmr, “condition”; see dh-). Both (i) and (ii) from Germanic *hraz (feminine *hrn-), “one who desires,” adulterer; b. caress, charity, cherish; Mother Carey's chicken, from Latin crus, dear. 2. Suffixed form *k-mo-. Kama; Kamasutra, from Sanksrit kma, love, desire. (Pokorny k- 515.)
