Concept explainers
In Exercises C.77–C.83, we have repeated the information from Exercises C.47–C.53. For each exercise, use Procedure C.2 on page C-44 or Procedure C.3 on page C-51 to perform the appropriate multiple comparisons using a family confidence level of 0.95.
C.79 Book Prices. Warning: This problem requires a great number of calculations. It is advised that you use a computer to perform those calculations. The R.R. Bowker Company collects data on retail prices of books and periodicals. Information about book prices is published in Publishers Weekly and in Bowker Annual: Library and Book Trade Almanac. Independent random samples were taken to compare retail book prices for five subjects (art. law. medicine, science, and technology) and three years (1985, 1990, and 1995). The table in Exercise C.49 on page C-32 displays the data, in dollars. Output C. 11 on page C-35 shows computer output obtained for a two-way ANOVA on these data and also supplies a table of cell and marginal means.
