The various molecules, which are involved in the bioluminescence in the fireflies, are the luciferin, adenosine triphosphate (ATP), oxygen, and enzyme luciferase. The enzyme luciferase, like any other enzyme, is sensitive toward various environmental factors like pH (potential of hydrogen), temperature, and oxygen.
