Introduction:
The adult pelvis is made up of four bones. These are the sacrum, the coccyx, and the right and left os coxae. The pelvis supports and protects the viscera in the lower part of the ventral body cavity. The sex of a skeleton can be determined by examining the skull, but the pelvis (primarily the ossa coxae) is the most reliable sex indicator.
