Introduction:

Drosophila melanogaster is a species of a fly also known as common fly. These flies can cause the other flies to shake and quiver. This mutation is termed as spastic (sps) and that spastic mutation occurs due an autosomal recessive gene.

She wants to check if the spastic gene is linked to the recessive gene for vestigial wings (vg). She crosses a fly homozygous for spastic and vestigial traits with a fly homozygous for the wild-type traits and then uses the resulting ${\text{F}}_{\text{1}}$ progeny females in a testcross. She obtains the following progeny of flies from this testcross:
