Concept explainers
To examine: The statement which is either true or false in mitotic cell division and meiosis cell division.
Concept introduction: Cell division is necessary for growth and repair in multicellular organism. Cell cycle is controlled by specific signaling molecules present in the cytoplasm. There are different phase of cell cycle such as G1 phase, S phase, G2 phase, and M phase. Each phase have a specific protein to carry out functions. Genetic material duplicate during S phase of the cell cycle. Cell cycle checkpoints are carefully regulated to ensure that the cycle does not proceed if suitable conditions are unavailable. Mitosis is a process of cell division in which a parent cell splits to form two daughter cells. The daughter cell has equal chromosome number as the parent cell. Meiosis is a process of cell division in which a parent cell splits to form four daughter cells. At the end of meiosis, the daughter cell has half chromosome number than the parent cell.
