Concept explainers
To compare: The meiosis I and meiosis II.
Concept introduction: A chromosome is a thread-like structure present in nucleus of the cell. It contains DNA and proteins. A chromosome is a long molecule having constriction in the middle called as centromere, which divides it into two parts. A display of the entire chromosome in a somatic cell is called as a karyotype. Cell division is a process in which a parent cell divides into two daughter cells. Meiosis and mitosis are the types of cell division.
To explain: Whether meiosis I or meiosis II is similar to mitosis.
