Interpretation:

The zero-point energy of a harmonic oscillator consisting of a particle of mass 5.16×10−26 kg and force constant 285 N m−1 has to be calculated.

Concept introduction:

A harmonic oscillator consists of a particle of mass m that undergoes a restoring force which is proportional to its amplitude x. The restoring force is represented by kf which is known as the force constant.  The energy of the lowest vibrational level of the harmonic oscillator is known the zero-point energy.
