Interpretation:
Whether the light is emitted or absorbed during the electronic transition from a higher energy orbit to a lower energy orbit is to be explained.
Concept Introduction:
The negatively charged particle, electron, is rotates around the nucleus in a circular way having certain energy. The pathway of circulation is called the orbit.
The energy of the orbit is quantized. The orbit closer to the nucleus is lower in energy whereas the orbit far from the nucleus has a higher energy.
