Answer to Problem 1Q

No, Venus and Uranus revolve in opposite direction than rest of the planets.

None of the planets have circular orbit.

Explanation of Solution

Introduction:

Solar system has eight planets -Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Copernicus gave the heliocentric model, according to which, the sun is at the center of the solar system and planets orbit around it.

Direct motion refers to the direction motion of a planet similar to the other planets. Not all planets are in direct motion in the solar system. Venus and Uranus have retrograde a motion which means their direction of motion is opposite to that of other planets.

None of the planets have perfectly circular orbit. According to Kepler’s law of planetary motion, the planets revolve about the sun in elliptical orbits with sun at one of its foci.
