Interpretation:

The system ¨˙x + x˙x + x = 0 is reversible is to be shown and its phase portrait is to be plotted.

Concept Introduction:

The system ˙x = f(x, y) and ˙y = g(x, y) is said to be reversible if f is even in x and g is even in x, that is, if f(-x, y) =  f(x, y) and g(-x, y) = -g(x, y).

The trajectories of the dynamic system are called phase portrait.

The phase portrait gives the qualitative behavior of the solutions of a differential equation.
