Viruses are obligate intracellular parasites. Their multiplication cycle inside the host cells comprises of adsorption, penetration, synthesis, assembly and release. An understanding of these steps is crucial for developing effective treatment strategies against viral infections. Many cancers whose cause was previously unknown are now being attributed to viruses.
