Commonly, the chemical compounds are made up of polyatomic ions and the ratio of positive to negative ions present in the substance is expressed as formula of ionic compound. Usually, the number of each kind of atom which makes up the particle generally called as the composition, is denoted by the chemical formula. The elements are found as single atom particles in the universe. Few elements form monoatomic ions having different charges.
