Network topology:

The shape or structure of a network is called as network topology that includes the planning of the communication links and hardware devices on the network.

The signal types, transmission rates, distance between devices and physical interconnection may differ between networks, but they may all have the same topology.

Three network topology:

The three most common types of network topology are:

Star topology

Mesh topology

Bus topology

Star topology:

It contains single central hub, while all of computers or nodes are connected to central hub.

Communicate with any computer but communication takes place only through common hub.

Failure in one computer does not affect the performance of the network.
