Concept introduction:
A method of feeding in which the gastrointestinal tract is bypassed is termed as the total parenteral nutrition (TPN). The liquid foods (fluids) are administered through the vein to deliver the nutrients. This technique is applied, if a patient has difficulties in receiving the fluids or feeding through the mouth. The nutritional recommendations before and in the course of pregnancy are termed as the prenatal nutrition. The prenatal nutrition offers a strong effect on the development and birth weight of the infant. Taking a healthy diet during the pregnancy is associated with the development of the fetal brain. A balanced diet also helps for improving the labor and delivery as well.
