Concept Introduction:

Pressure drop in a pipe is given by Hagen-Poiseuille equation. It states that the lateral pressure drop is directly proportional to the product of average velocity and viscosity; whereas it is inversely proportional to the squared diameter of pipe. If skin fraction is considered, then the lateral pressure drop is directly proportional to the fanning friction factor. However, the true value of friction factor depends on the Reynolds number.
