Pressure drop and cost due to variable pipe size is to be determined.

Concept Introduction:

Bernoulli’s theorem states that the summation of kinetic energy, potential energy, and head loss for flow through a pipe is constant. However, when friction is considered, this value does not remain constant. Instead, it decreases in the direction of flow due to mechanical energy. Additionally, it leads to the introduction of frictional head loss term. Work done by pump is directly proportional to the ratio of frictional head loss and mechanical efficiency.
