Concept introduction:
Cancer cells are characterized by the uncontrolled proliferation of abnormal cells, invasion, metastasis, and antiapoptosis. Cancer cells lack differentiation and maturation into specialized cells. Drugs that are used to treat cancer are generally known as chemotherapeutic drugs or antineoplastic drugs. Chemotherapeutic drugs are generally used to prevent or suppress the growth of cancer. The major adverse effects of chemotherapy are myelosuppression, immune suppression, gastrointestinal distress, cardiovascular toxicities, fatigue, anemia, nausea, vomiting, hair loss, and stomatitis.
