Chapter 46, Problem 10TYU
Summary Introduction

Introduction: The process of gas exchange that occurs between an organism and its environment is known as respiration. For cellular respiration, most of the animal cells need a continuous oxygen supply. During respiration, oxygen is inhaled from the environment by animal and transported to individual cells of the body. As well as, carbon dioxide produced by the cell during cellular respiration is exhaled from the body to the environment.

2. Why do we continue to use extra oxygen after exercise? 3. If someone has a problem with their sympathetic nervous system having depressed (insufficient) activity, how would this affect their exercise capacity? What would be different about their circulatory and respiratory system responses to exercise?
What is the biophysical reason that myoglobin (as opposed to hemoglobin) could never play the role of the oxygen transport system in the human body?   1. It binds oxygen too tightly   2. It binds oxygen too weakly   3. It binds oxygen too slowly   4.  It does not bind oxygen cooperatively
Interpret your data in Graph 1 (Image of Graph 1 attached); What does your data tell you about the effect of temperature on: a) opercular movements in goldfish? AND b) gas exchange in goldfish?  Why can data from the control fish be used as a standard for comparing opercular movements in the experimental fish?
